Solidarity between and towards citizens is a longstanding priority for the City of Lille. This can be seen in all municipal policies, from youth education to care for the elderly, from housing policy to the development of districts, from culture to sport.

All of these policies encompass a single vision, namely of solidarity within the community and the improvement of everyday life for everyone. It is the art of living together, a better city lifestyle.

The amazing variety of initiatives of mutual help and solidarity throughout Lille, whether they be part of an institutional framework or not, all merit support and encouragement.

But we know that much remains to be done. To achieve this, we need the continuing energy, generosity and commitment of the people of Lille.  "Lille, City of Solidarity" aims to mobilise the population of Lille; reinforcing links between generations, social categories, families and neighbours. To succeed in this endeavour, we must maintain the fabric which brings together the people of Lille in their communities, encouraging meetings between associations and clubs, all year long, as well as promoting events, special occasions, festivities and celebrations.
