Department

Lille is situated within the Nord département (a département is more or less the equivalent of a county in Great Britain, or a provencia in Spain). As the capital city of the Nord, Lille is the home of the headquarters and governing body of the département, named the conseil général.

Bernard DEROSIER, representing the French Socialist Party, is the President of the Nord département.
